Economic Mobility

July 2025

In Central Indiana, many individuals and families face persistent challenges to achieving financial stability. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of living, and systemic inequities continue to limit access to opportunity, especially for low-wage workers and parents.

United Way of Central Indiana works to break down these barriers by investing in programs that connect people to education, job training, financial resources, and supportive services. These efforts include helping residents build skills and earn industry-recognized credentials, access stable employment, receive financial and benefits counseling, access to mental health services, mentorship, and child development. Together, these strategies are designed to help families increase their income, grow their assets, and achieve lasting economic mobility.

The snapshot below highlights key indicators of economic mobility and the impact of these initiatives, as reported by United Way partners in impact.
