Your Philanthropic Legacy Starts With a Plan

Make a lasting impression through planned giving

Designating a planned gift is a meaningful way to show your dedication and appreciation to United Way’s mission while also accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. With early and smart planning, donors may actually increase the size of their total gift and/or reduce the tax burden on heirs. Just as important, a planned gift provides meaningful stability to United Way’s community impact investments.

Make a Gift from my IRA

If you are 70 ½ or older, you’re eligible to create a tax-free gift from your IRA to support United Way of Central Indiana. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). United Way has free, online tool to help show you how to use funds you are required by law to withdraw from your IRA.

Make a Gift from my DAF

Donate Appreciated Stocks

Donating appreciated stock can be more beneficial than giving cash by avoiding capital gains taxes and possibly receiving a federal tax deduction.

 Create a Will

United Way has partnered with FreeWill to provide our community with a free online tool to create a legal will. It’s an easy, free, and virtual way to complete your will, while at the same time creating a lasting philanthropic legacy.

August is National Make-A-Will Month and United Way of Central Indiana is inspiring all of our community members to think bigger and take stock of their lives by creating a legal will. With our friends at FreeWill, it only takes 20 minutes to write your plans and get peace of mind in the months to come. Since 2017 over half a million people have used FreeWill to write their wills. Will you join them?
