Thanks to our generous donors, more than $1.3 million supported food relief in our community.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Central Indiana Food Relief Fund delivered essential support at a moment when it was needed most. As thousands of Hoosiers experienced interruptions in their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, the fund helped ensure families could maintain access to the food they depend on. In all, more than $1.3 million was directed to emergency support for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Midwest Food Bank of Indiana, and Second Helpings — three organizations that supply hundreds of food pantries across our seven‑county region.
This effort was made possible by an anonymous $500,000 gift that was quickly matched by The Indianapolis Foundation, Lilly Endowment Inc., and the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, with many additional partners joining in. Their collective support helped food banks meet unprecedented demand and kept food on the tables of families facing uncertainty. While the fund has concluded, addressing long‑term food insecurity requires continued community involvement. We invite you to stay engaged by volunteering with local food banks or advocating for policies that strengthen access to nutritious food.

Nearly 150,000 people across Central Indiana depend on SNAP. Some 49% of SNAP participants in the region are families with children. Learn more facts and stats about SNAP at the button below.
