United Way of Central Indiana Names Alan Bacon Senior Director of Social Innovation Fund
INDIANAPOLIS – United Way of Central Indiana today announced that Alan Bacon will join the organization’s Impact team as the senior director of the Social Innovation Fund on May 6. Bacon will lead the strategic direction of one of three Impact Funds unveiled earlier this month designed to unite those who believe in finding innovative solutions to our community’s most critical social issues. United Way’s Chief Impact Officer Sara VanSlambrook believes Bacon will be instrumental to the success of the Social Innovation Fund’s impact on households across central Indiana. “With the recent rollout of our Impact Funds, Alan’s leadership will bring together donors and practitioners alike to develop a culture of innovation, scale ideas that work, and foster new solutions that improve the quality of life for our struggling neighbors,” said VanSlambrook. Bacon, who formerly served as global director of learning and development for iLAB LLC, as well as in various leadership roles for Harrison College, will seek to continue his work in the community. In addition to his experience, Bacon serves on the Music Cities Steering Committee and is an active board member of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and OpportunINDY, a collective impact model that seeks to improve key outcomes for African American men in Marion County. “This is an exciting time to join United Way,” said Bacon. “I look forward to working with a team that will spark the transformative change this fund will create and seeing how it will benefit fellow Hoosiers across our six-county region.” The Social Innovation Fund will bring innovators to the table, invest in new ideas, test new approaches, and fund new projects that can deliver a measurable, direct impact on the community at a faster pace.
