United Way of Central Indiana joins our entire community in mourning the death of Jim Irsay — a visionary leader, passionate advocate, and generous soul whose impact will be felt for generations.

Jim Irsay's commitment to helping Hoosiers is legendary. The Irsay family -- with fellow United Way board member Kalen Jackson -- always answered the call of service. As a Million Dollar Roundtable donor, Jim gave substantially to help solve our community's toughest problems. During the pandemic, Jim and Herb Simon teamed up to support 12 community centers in United Way's network to bring needed relief throughout our region. His unwavering commitment to mental health transformed lives and inspired others to give selflessly. Jim was one of our city's best cheerleaders and fans, and it speaks volumes that his last tweet was wishing the Pacers, Herb Simon, and our entire city the best of luck before their stunning, overtime win.

We are profoundly grateful for Jim’s partnership and his heart for service to our community. His legacy will live on through the causes he championed and through the people he inspired along the way.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Irsay family and all who knew and loved him.
