Save-Earn-Learn Tax Preparation

Save-Earn-Learn: Indy's Campaign for Financial Fitness is a city-wide initiative led by the Indianapolis Asset Building Coalition (IABC) and supported by
United Way of Central Indiana. During tax season
2012, IABC plans to provide free tax filing
assistance and referrals to financial education
programs to more than 5,000 low to moderate income
families, disabled individuals, elderly and individuals
with limited English proficiency. This tax assistance
will help tax filers receive all available tax refunds
including earned income tax credits.

Volunteer tax preparers, screeners, reviewers and assistants are needed. Not only will volunteers help with the tax preparation service, but they have the potential to make a difference in someone’s life by offering them access to tools on how to become financially fit. Register to volunteer here.

Save-Earn-Learn was designed and implemented as a way to encourage people to save money, build assets and provide education in an effort to avoid high interest refund anticipation loans. Other free services offered at the tax sites included: credit reports, public benefits screenings, financial coaching, savings accounts, financial literacy workshops and child care during the tax preparation.

Volunteers will be needed throughout the tax season at the following locations:

  • Eagledale-Lafayette Square Area Weed & Seed
  • Hawthorne Community Center
  • John H. Boner Community Center
  • Oasis Christian Development Corp.
  • Shepherd Community Center
  • Southeast Community Services
  • Mobile Tax Site - one-day events
