For more than 90 years, United Way of Central Indiana has supported innovative, practical and efficient agencies and programs in order to address local needs.

Our mission

United Way of Central Indiana helps people learn more, earn more and lead safe and healthy lives. We do this by focusing on four priorities: education, income, health and
basic needs.

History 

We’ve been meeting local needs since 1918, when United Way of Central Indiana was founded as the War Chest. We’ve undergone several name changes since then, but our commitment to improving lives has never changed. Learn more about United Way’s history here in Central Indiana.

Leadership

United Way Worldwide

United Way Worldwide is a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting changes in communities and people’s lives. United Way of America makes no policies for United Way of Central Indiana. It has membership requirements and sets standards of excellence for local United Ways.

United Way of Central Indiana operates in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties. We have a local, volunteer board of directors and local volunteers. They identify, plan and carry out community-building and fundraising activities for health and human care solutions here in Central Indiana.
