Leadership United: Preparing for nonprofit board leadership

Leadership United is United Way of Central Indiana’s comprehensive community leadership and board development program. Leadership United programs utilize a combination of classes and practical experiences to help participants develop their leadership skills, increase their knowledge of the community, and acquire the skills necessary to be successful community leaders.

This unique community development program is designed to identify motivated and aspiring leaders in Central Indiana. The program prepares participants for the challenges of their lifelong leadership journeys within the nonprofit community.

Choose the series that’s right for you

Effective leaders are at the core of any successful community. They are people who know how to get things done, that know how to serve effectively on boards and that understand good leadership is vital to community success. We offer five programs to help you develop those skills. The four adult programs are:

• Ardath Burkhart Leadership Series
• Executive Women’s Leadership Series
• Generation Now Leadership Series
• Diversity Leadership Series

United Way's Youth Leadership United (YLU) is a leadership program to prepare high school students to understand the nonprofit system and serve on nonprofit boards and committees.

Leadership Ignited is the Leadership United and Youth Leadership United alumni association.
