Spirit United recognizes and celebrates companies’ consistent volunteer and financial support
for United Way’s mission and priorities.

If your company has been a Company that Cares award winner for the past three years and has
provided financial resources beyond your workplace campaign (e.g., event sponsorship or other
financial support for a United Way priority) and human capital (e.g., volunteerism), you may qualify
as a Spirit United award nominee. Winners to be announced at next year's Annual Meeting.

mission and two community priorities: Sustaining vital human services and Ready to Learn,
Ready to Earn
.

Benefits of being a Spirit United award winner include:

  • A handsome award, custom designed by Herff Jones, Inc.
  • Recognition at United Way’s Annual Meeting, in news releases and our e-newsletter,
    and visibility in our print and Web materials throughout the year
  • Opportunities for custom advertisements and banners
  • Access to sponsorships and co-branding opportunities
  • A tool kit full of turn-key promotional ideas

To be eligible for Spirit United, your company must:

  • Be a for-profit company or other organization whose primary business is not philanthropic
  • Provide financial resources and human capital aligned with United Way’s mission and priorities
  • Be a current United Way Company that Cares award winner and have obtained the award for
    three (3) consecutive years
  • Submit your workplace campaign results no later than December 31, 2009

The Spirit United Selection Task Force, composed of United Way’s Resource Development committee
members and local community representatives, will consider all companies, large and small, who meet
the criteria listed above. There is no formal application process for Spirit United. No more than four
Spirit United awards will be presented per year.
