Audit Committee
Safeguards assets and internal accounting controls and selects independent auditors. Owen B. “Bud” Melton, Jr. of Melton Investments & Management LLC is a member and former chair of this committee. He also chairs the Connected by 25 Committee.
Campaign Cabinet
Implements the annual fundraising campaign.
Samuel L. Odle of Clarian Health chaired the cabinet, served on the Executive Committee and is a former chair of the Minority Key Club.
Community Planning and Research Committee
Addresses community planning, issues research, priorities and public policy advocacy. Karen Gentleman of Gentleman Associates chairs the committee which guided the 2008 Community Assessment.

County Advisory Boards
Implement strategies and tactics in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks and Morgan counties. Joseph D. Calderon with Bose, McKinney & Evans LLP leads Hamilton County’s volunteer board.
Diversity Committee
Examines and recommends ways to strengthen United Way’s relationships with minority individuals and groups. Laura Gadson, Noblesville High School student, provides both a youth perspective and that of an African-American to the committee. She is an intern
to the board.
Executive Committee
Provides strategic planning and implementation along with policy oversight. Vincent C. Caponi of St. Vincent Health chairs the committee as well as the full board of directors.
Tim Smith Mark Hill Dr. Rose Ann Grasty
Finance Committee
Addresses a spectrum of financial issues including the funding plan, operating budget, campaign collections, annual and other financial reporting. Tim Smith of Perfect Impressions Printing brings his business perspective to committee and board deliberations.
Governance Committee
Nominates board and officers; reviews structure, board and staff relationships; develops ways to increase board participation. Mark Hill with Collina Ventures LLC, chairs this committee and has also served as an agency evaluation reviewer.
Human Services Committee
Responsible for agency relations, certification, evaluation, funding guidelines and recommendations related to the Human Services priority. Dr. Rose Ann Grasty is a civic volunteer from Hendricks County where she also chairs the county’s advisory board.

Resource Development Committee
Oversees annual campaign, major and planned giving and new business development. Lloyd Lyons, civic volunteer, is a member and former chair of this committee which created the new Spirit United recognition.
Investment and Endowment Committee
Oversees all investments, policies and funds management including how much of the endowment is used for internal operations. Steven J. Schenck, vice president, Merrill Lynch, chairs the committee and is a former treasurer of United Way.

Committee

Provides leadership for collaborative strategies to measurably improve the lives of children and youth. Carolyn Dederer of Day Nursery Association provides early learning expertise and an agency perspective as chair of the Agency Executives Council.
