While September 11 of each year will continue to be a day of reflection, it is fitting that we show the community how we must live united in reaching out to those in need. When we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all.

In observance of the newly established National Day of Service and Remembrance, the City of Indianapolis and the United Way of Central Indiana are pleased to co-host the eighth Community Fair on Monument Circle, this year to be held on Friday, September 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We are inviting your organization and other local not-for-profit agencies to set up a display on Monument Circle to educate the public about your mission and to promote upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Each participating organization will receive a six-foot table with two chairs. Tables will be set along the inside perimeter of the Circle. Please have your table set up by 10:30 a.m., as we always have early visitors. You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your reservation. A second email will be sent with the location of your table as well as details about the event. There is $15 fee per table to participate. This event is a go, rain or shine.

A great addition to this year's event will be the Central Indiana 9/11 Legacy Walk hosted by the The American Legion family of Central Indiana. The walk begins at 10 a.m. at the American Legion and ends at Monument Circle to kick off the community fair. For more information visit http://legacywalk.blogspot.com/.

Your participation not only will help foster the need to care for others in our community through volunteerism and monetary contributions, but also will increase public awareness of your organization’s mission. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Your involvement in our Community Fair will strengthen the ties that bind each of us with our community.
