Read 'Round the Circle!
Love reading? Love kids? Join the Colts' Antoine Bethea at 5 p.m., Thursday, June 7, on Monument Circle to help us break the national reading relay record of a single book! We can make it happen with 500 people! We'll provide the book. All you have to give is one hour and your story-telling voice! It's a way to spread the word about United Way's Read. Tutor. Mentor. challenge to boost every child's success in school and in life.

What's Involved: The event is rain or shine. We've chosen the beloved children's novel Charlotte's Web to read. It's about Wilbur, the pig, and his barnyard friends who show that help can come in all shapes and sizes. Each person will take a turn at reading a sentence or two from the novel.
Participation: Invite your family and friends to participate. We want to see all ages involved.

6/23/2012 - Women United Volunteer Event |

Jameson Camp is excited to offer volunteer opportunities to Women United on the morning of June 23.We are planting flowers and grasses by the Peace Center and beginning to create a garden with native plants and flowers and an interpretative trail near the entrance of the camp. Volunteers should arrive by 8:30 a.m. and will work until 11:30 a.m. Volunteers should bring lightweight work/gardening gloves if you have them.
Jameson Camp is a year-round youth services agency located on the West side of Indianapolis on 100 acres of beautiful woods and meadows. The camp provides residental summer camp, youth leadership programming, outdoor education, and team building activities. The camp primarily serves children from disadvantaged backgrounds and specializes in serving children with social and emotional challenges and offers a special session of camp for children impacted by HIV/AIDS.

For one day in one half hour, WFYI 1 Public Television (20.1), WISH-TV 8 and MyINDY-TV 23, RTV 6, WTHR Channel 13, FOX59 and Indiana’s 4 WTTV will urge the whole community to LIVE UNITED through United Way of Central Indiana.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., tune into your favorite local television show and sit tight during station breaks. On-air TV personalities will introduce you to neighbors who are learning more, earning more and leading safer and healthier lives thanks to your United Way contributions. The BIG Kickoff
Join us on Monument Circle as we kickoff the 2012 United Way of Central Indiana community campaign and celebrate the beginning of the Indianapolis Colts season.
Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Location: Southside of Monument Circle
Enjoy $5 Applebee's box lunches while listening to Dave and Rae on the Colts main stage. Raise funds for United Way by testing your field goal skills at the BIG Kickoff Challenge presented by Huntington Bank. Pick up your Colts season calendar and learn ways to become more engaged in the community by visiting the 50 United Way agency booths set up around the circle. The event is free and open to the public. A great way to spend your lunch break!

Stock the House, a fundraiser to help foster youth transition to adulthood, is back for a third year at The Rathskeller (401 East Michigan Street, Indianapolis) on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 2-8 p.m.
Headlining this year's festival will be live performances from local superstar Jennie DeVoe. Zanna-Doo, Henle and The Loops and Brooke Roe will also perform.
Donations of $5 to $20 at the door and proceeds of a silent auction will assist former foster youth in the areas of education, employment and housing and their transition into adulthood.
This year’s silent auction features items such as a night at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, two tickets to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Indianapolis Repertory Theatre, seven days at a condo with multiple locations from RCI, four one-day Disney World passes, and a VIP pass to The Vogue.
Presented by USA Funds, the festival will be in the Rathskeller’s Beirgarten. In case of rain, the festival will move inside to the Grand Kellersaal Ballroom.

James will share information about the center and two of the agencies it supports: the American Indian Center of Indiana and the Immigrant Welcome Center.
The John H. Boner Community Center is a nonprofit agency founded to serve residents of the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. In 1971, neighborhood residents organized and determined the need for a community center. Throughout the years, the center's philosophy has inspired the creation of services and programs in response to changes within the neighborhood.
